Chef Mike's Tapout Burger

Ingredients

For the Burgers:

  • 2 pounds ground beef (80/20 blend)

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

  • 8 Krispy Kreme donuts (glazed)

  • 8 slices of bacon

  • 8 sunny-side-up eggs

  • 8 slices of cheese (American or cheddar)

  • Lettuce leaves (as needed)

  • 1 large tomato, sliced

  • 1 large onion, sliced

  • Mayonnaise (to taste)

  • Mustard (to taste)

  • Ketchup (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Bacon:

    • In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon until crispy. Remove from the skillet and place on paper towels to drain excess grease.

  2. Cook the Beef Patties:

    • In a large bowl, season the ground beef with salt and black pepper. Form the beef into 8 equal patties (about ¼ pound each).

    • In the same skillet used for the bacon, cook the patties over medium-high heat for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until they reach your desired doneness.

    • In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheese on each patty and cover with a lid to melt.

  3. Fry the Eggs:

    • In another skillet, cook the eggs sunny-side up, about 2-3 minutes per egg, until the whites are set but the yolks are still runny.

  4. Prepare the Donuts:

    • While the patties are cooking, slice each Krispy Kreme donut in half horizontally.

  5. Assemble the Burgers:

    • On the bottom half of each donut, spread a thin layer of mayonnaise, mustard, and ketchup.

    • Add a layer of lettuce, followed by a slice of tomato and onion.

    • Place the cheesy beef patty on top of the vegetables.

    • Top with a slice of crispy bacon and a sunny-side-up egg.

    • Finish with the top half of the donut.

  6. Serve:

    • Serve immediately while warm, and enjoy the delightful combination of sweet and savory flavors!
