Chef Mike's Tapout Burger
Ingredients
For the Burgers:
2 pounds ground beef (80/20 blend)
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
8 Krispy Kreme donuts (glazed)
8 slices of bacon
8 sunny-side-up eggs
8 slices of cheese (American or cheddar)
Lettuce leaves (as needed)
1 large tomato, sliced
1 large onion, sliced
Mayonnaise (to taste)
Mustard (to taste)
Ketchup (to taste)
Instructions
Prepare the Bacon:
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon until crispy. Remove from the skillet and place on paper towels to drain excess grease.
Cook the Beef Patties:
In a large bowl, season the ground beef with salt and black pepper. Form the beef into 8 equal patties (about ¼ pound each).
In the same skillet used for the bacon, cook the patties over medium-high heat for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until they reach your desired doneness.
In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheese on each patty and cover with a lid to melt.
Fry the Eggs:
In another skillet, cook the eggs sunny-side up, about 2-3 minutes per egg, until the whites are set but the yolks are still runny.
Prepare the Donuts:
While the patties are cooking, slice each Krispy Kreme donut in half horizontally.
Assemble the Burgers:
On the bottom half of each donut, spread a thin layer of mayonnaise, mustard, and ketchup.
Add a layer of lettuce, followed by a slice of tomato and onion.
Place the cheesy beef patty on top of the vegetables.
Top with a slice of crispy bacon and a sunny-side-up egg.
Finish with the top half of the donut.
Serve:
Serve immediately while warm, and enjoy the delightful combination of sweet and savory flavors!
